Our Story

Transforming Trauma into Triumph: Empowering Tomorrow, Rebuilding Today.

Our mission

Reclaiming Your Life, Inc. (RYL) is a nonprofit supporting domestic violence survivors and their families through resources, education, and community. We believe healing is possible, and that no one should have to rebuild alone.

How RYL began

Reclaiming Your Life, Inc. began with our founder, Kimarra Thorbourne, and her desire to help others rebuild after domestic violence. Having experienced an abusive relationship herself, Kimarra understood the pain, confusion, and loss of identity that can come with abuse.

Through personal growth and her faith, she began reclaiming her life. That journey inspired her to create RYL—a place where survivors and their families could find encouragement, helpful resources, and opportunities to move forward.

Where We Are Today

Today, RYL is building a foundation around resource information, domestic violence education, and virtual community connections. Our virtual gatherings are in development, and confirmed opportunities will be shared as they become available.

Our Vision

Our long-term vision is to expand practical support and build partnerships that help survivors pursue stability and independence. Future programs will be introduced as the resources and capacity to deliver them are in place.

Get Out of Jail Sis

A Ministry of Reclaiming Your Life, Inc.

Get Out of Jail Sis is the Christian faith-based ministry of Reclaiming Your Life, Inc., created to encourage women who feel held back by trauma, fear, grief, negative thinking, or other life challenges. It is a space to grow in faith, renew your mindset, rediscover your identity, and take steps toward the life and purpose God has called you to.

Here, ‘jail’ is a metaphor for the mental, emotional, and spiritual spaces where we can feel stuck—not physical incarceration. Sometimes the ways we learned to survive no longer help us move forward. Whether you are navigating past pain, low confidence, repeating patterns, or the fear of change, you do not have to walk that journey alone.

Our heart is to help women move from survival to surrender through biblical truth, prayer, encouragement, and supportive connection. This is not limited to women who have experienced domestic violence. We are relaunching the ministry, and activities will be announced as they are confirmed.

Participation is always optional. People of all faiths and those with no religious affiliation are welcome to access RYL’s resources and community information. Spiritual encouragement is not a substitute for professional mental health care.
